Community Outreach & Recognition made for a busy week at Roman Jewelers
Last week at Roman Jewelers was a busy one...in the best way possible. Roman Jewelers celebrated three events in one week--Education Foundation of Bridgewater-Raritan wine fundraiser held at our store, The Chamber of Commerce Induction Ceremony, and the BW Nice 10th Anniversary Celebration.

Monday, May 6 we were pleased to host the Education Foundation of Bridgewater-Raritan at our store, where we entertained nearly 60 charitable parents, teachers and staff of the Bridgewater-Raritan School District. In it's third year, Roman Jewelers was again able to support the foundation with a portion of the proceeds of the sale that evening being donated to the charity. The evening was topped off with a presentation of $1,000 from Roman Jewelers to the Dr. Robert Feder Art Scholarship which will be given to a student who chooses to pursue Art after graduation from High School.

and a big impact
On Tuesday, May 7th our co-owners, Roman & Sophie Shor, were inducted into the Hunterdon Country Chamber of Commerce hall of fame and presented with the Essence of Hunterdon Award. The award was given to an organization that has enhanced the community, fostered business and community partnership through leadership, courage, thought and entrepreneurial spirt. An impressive video was shown that highlighted Roman & Sophie's role in building along presence and commitment to Roman Jewelers, the community and charities. We hope to be able to share that video with all of you soon. Sophie's speech brought tears to many eyes, including her daughter's. Lucy, said, "I'm so proud of my parents. They have worked hard to build a business that the community loves and one that we are proud of. They inspire me to follow in their footsteps and continue the tradition of hard work and giving back."
On Thursday, May 9th, Sophie Shor was up at the microphone once again, passing on the torch to other BW Nice –Business Women NetworkingInvolving Charity & Educationwomen who were being honored at the Organization's 10 Year Anniversary. Sophie was chosen to present as a past winner of the Woman Of the Year award. This week, Roman Jewelers expects the week to slow down a bit (whew) but the store's commitment to the things that matter--our business, employees, and the community--will continue. "We truly want to thank everyone for all of the involvement and recognition," adds Sophie, "We can't do it without you!"
Our Mother’s Day Pendant—A Custom Designed Masterpiece
We wanted to create a special pendant for our 2019 Mother's Day Video Contest, so Lucy Zimmerman, co-owner of Roman Jewelers and a 4th generation jewelry designer, custom designed a spectacular piece for this special contest.
Lucy likes to tell a story when she custom designs jewelry. There are many factors that she takes into consideration, but she has an innate ability to consistently manufacture one-of-a-kind masterpieces for customers.
"My inspiration as a custom jewelry designer comes from our customers. It is a process of combining the fashion and lifestyles of our customers with imagination and knowledge. It is from my father that I learned the most valuable lesson of custom jewelry design: beautiful stones do not make beautiful jewelry. Artistic vision, hard work, and striving for perfection do."
Lucy Zimmerman
Here is the final piece that Lucy designed for our 2019 Mother's Day Contest. It features a luminous, genuine pearl surrounded by a dimensional diamond star in 14k white gold. Lucy wanted this pendant to be vibrant and stunning to ensure that the recipients felt like a super star this Mother's Day and beyond.

Simon G. Defines Holiday Sparkle & Extended Hours, too!
Boulder Opal from Simon G's Collection
“Simon G. is our customers’ favorite designer,” is something we say every year around the holidays, and this year’s Simon G. Show confirmed it once again! At our most successful show yet, we asked customers why they love Simon G.—the answers are not surprising: the same reasons our staff and jewelers all over the world love the line—Quality, Price Point, and Design.
If you missed the show, do not fret. Our collection of Simon G. jewelry is extensive, and there is still time to find the perfect gift. This year, the Simon G. trunk featured a few very special and rare pieces, including a Blue Sapphire from Sri Lanka, hand-picked by Simon himself, and a Boulder Opal from Australia that burst with color and warmed up the room. Stunning diamond tennis necklaces were on display, showing that when it comes to diamonds, Simon G. takes things very seriously.
In fact, when Simon G. creates pieces for his collection, his hope is that each piece becomes a family heirloom. His passion for diamonds has made him a leading designer in bridal and fashion jewelry for more than 25 years.
Lucy Zimmerman, Co-owner of Roman Jewelers, says, “We are thrilled to be on Simon G.’s calendar this time every year and grateful for the support of our loyal customers who return annually. We expect that we added a few new fans this year, too.”
Roman Jewelers has extended holiday hours starting Saturday, December 15th. The store will be open from 10 AM - 8 PM through December 21st, 9 AM - 8 PM on December 22 and 23, and 9 AM - 4 PM on Christmas Eve. Last-minute gifts can still be found!
A new 5th Ave. sign was just perfectly placed in Bridgewater
Roman Jewelers is perfectly located at the intersection of 5th Ave and Commons Way. Officially, Roman Jewelers is located at 500 Commons Way in Bridgewater, but last week a new sign appeared on the corner—something many customers and employees noticed right away.
Serendipity? Roman Jewelers thinks so.
Many years ago, store owners Roman and Sophie created an advertising campaign that let customers know that all the best of 5th Avenue in New York City could be found at Roman Jewelers in Central New Jersey. It was true then, and it still holds true today.
With world-renowned jewelry brands such as Mikimoto, Marco Bicego, Tacori, Hearts on Fire, Lagos, and fashion-forward designers like Freida Rothman, there is little need to fight traffic or cross the river to shop for the designer brands found on Fifth Avenue in NYC.
Apparently, an older, worn, and tired sign had previously stood on the corner—but it went largely unnoticed. Now, with a brand-new “5th Ave.” sign in place, customers and employees alike are smiling.
Roman Jewelers would like to personally thank the individual or department responsible for this fortunate circumstance—whoever they may be.
“I think we owe them a personal thank you and a tour of the store,” said Lucy Zimmerman, who owns Roman Jewelers alongside her parents, Roman and Sophie.
Until the mystery is solved, Roman Jewelers will continue to provide a little bit of Fifth Avenue—right here in Bridgewater.
A Special Campaign to Support Our Local Nonprofit Organizations
February is a month dedicated to love. From National Heart Month to Valentine’s Day, there are countless opportunities to show others how much we care. At Roman Jewelers, we felt it was the perfect time of year to launch our Share Your Heart campaign.
On Thursday, February 1, 2018, we invited more than 40 local nonprofits to join us for a special launch event at our Bridgewater location. Organizations from Hunterdon and Somerset Counties were introduced to a one-of-a-kind heart pendant that was specially designed to support their fundraising efforts throughout the year.
During the launch party, executive directors, board members, and interns from nonprofits across Hunterdon and Somerset Counties had the opportunity to network with one another, meet our staff, and learn firsthand why we established the Share Your Heart campaign.
Sophie Shor, Vice President of Roman Jewelers, shared that she created the campaign to develop a unique and thoughtful way to support local nonprofits.
“Creating beautiful jewelry and supporting local nonprofits are two things we believe we do very well at Roman Jewelers,” said Sophie.
The Share Your Heart pendant was designed by Sophie’s daughter and General Manager, Lucy Zimmerman. Lucy selected a heart shape for this exclusive design because it is a universally adored symbol and can be gifted to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and other special occasions.
As a fourth-generation jewelry designer, Lucy was determined to create a truly distinct piece—a challenging task with such a classic symbol. After many design iterations, she created the perfect pendant for this meaningful campaign.
When someone purchases this sterling silver pendant, which retails for $100.00, Roman Jewelers donates $50.00 of the sale to the purchaser’s favorite charity, either in their name or in honor of someone special.
The necklace is available for purchase at our Flemington and Bridgewater locations, as well as online at romanjewelers.com and on our Facebook page.
In addition to being a beautiful gift, the Share Your Heart pendant is truly a gift that keeps on giving. At the conclusion of the event, our staff presented each attendee with their own pendant as a thank-you for the incredible work they do within their organizations and communities.
For nearly 30 years, Roman Jewelers has been dedicated to supporting charities and strengthening our communities. Giving back is woven into the fabric of our company and reflected in the people who work here, as well as in our owners.
Love (and wear!) your Engagement Ring Again
Love your Ring again after Roman Jewelers Restyling Event
We are always surprised to hear from friends and customers that they are no longer wearing their engagement rings because they feel they are outdated!. Love your ring again by remounting it into a new setting at our Annual Ring Restyling Event this Thursday - Saturday! There are several reasons women no longer wear and love their diamond jewelry, including just not liking it because it is outdated. Whether it is the cut, the color metal or even the size of the diamond, women are choosing to leave their rings in their jewelry box instead of enjoying them. This is why we’ve created this Annual Event. During this one a year event, receive 20% off of select mountings, Interest Free Financing, and best of all--a large selection of hundreds of rings!
Remounting your existing diamond ring gives it new life so that you will love and wear it again. Updating your setting, also protects your diamond which may currently be in an older setting with worn prongs and gold. Now, is the time.
You may even choose to create a new custom piece. Maybe you want to use several heirloom pieces or stones from other jewelry or design something meaningful to commemorate an anniversary or life event.
You still love him! Why not love your ring?

Roman Jewelers Provides Educational Programs to Community
Sophie Shor from Roman Jewelers Teaches Students about Diamonds A diamond is the most valuable gem on earth and yet, it is made out of the same mineral as the graphite in a pencil…carbon. This interesting fact along with several others were offered earlier this month for third grade students at the Whitehouse School in Readington and the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington. The presentation appeals to all ages and is currently being offered as part of a community outreach program by Roman Jewelers. Sophie Shor, Vice President of Roman Jewelers, presented the information. “No matter your age, everyone is fascinated by the science of diamonds. Not only did they learn about where diamonds come from and the chemical composition of a diamond, but it was invigorating to watch everyone’s eyes light up as I showed them how light travels through a diamond. They couldn’t wait to hear more about one of the most precious things on our earth.” “For the older folks, every diamond has a story and a memory. What better way to engage an audience then with a story that they can connect to, but also learn from,” Shor says. The jeweler also provides a presentation on Fabergé Eggs, which ties in to the Shor’s family story. Like Fabergé, the Shor family has been making jewelry for many generations, both here in the United States and in Russia. “This presentation captivates audiences--not only because of the rich history behind the eggs, but also because of the information about the detail and creation of the art,” says Shor. The program offered by Roman Jewelers is an effort to provide the community with the opportunity to learn first-hand about the professionals in the jewelry business and the vast information they possess. It can be adapted for students of all ages or adults. Anyone interested in having the program presented in their school or organization can contact program coordinator Lauren Baker, who will also be helping with the presentations at 908-782-8240. Roman Jewelers is a family owned and operated store with locations in Flemington and the Bridgewater Commons Shopping Mall in Bridgewater. Roman Jewelers specializes in custom jewelry design, fine jewelry including diamond and bridal jewelry and offers a wide selection of Swiss watches.
