Join Roman Jewelers Fundraiser for the Children of Ukraine
Please Join Roman Jewelers' online jewelry auction.
100% of the proceeds from the auction will be sent to UNICEF to ensure that Ukraine's Children have access to safe water, nutrition, healthcare, education, and protection.
Monetary Donations of any amount are also accepted.
The owners and staff of Roman Jewelers, like many of you, have been deeply affected by the unfair and unnecessary war in Ukraine. The children, who are the least responsible for it, suffer the most from its consequences. And, the effects can be lifelong. It is important for our company to help in any way we can. It is why we started this online auction site. The website also accepts monetary donations of any amount.
Roman Jewelers has a personal story, too. As many of you know, Roman & Sophie Shor defected from the communist USSR in the early 1980s. Their love of America is so strong because their beliefs in the pursuit of freedom, their support of democratic values, and their very deep understanding of the effects of government suppression are even stronger. Beliefs that have been passed down to their daughter and co-owner, Lucy Zimmerman.
We have employees past and present, too, that are Ukrainian. Their loved ones are still there and being affected directly by this invasion. It is all heartbreaking.
Jewelry is beautiful, just like children. Just like peace. And, just like Ukraine, itself. Please take a look at the jewelry in our auction and consider bidding. It is Roman Jewelers' way to raise money doing what we know--sharing our love of jewelry. And you will know when you wear it--or gift it--that it is even more meaningful.
Thank you so much for your support and thank you to our Generous Sponsors.
In Peace & Gratitude, The Roman Jewelers' Family
Roman Jewelers Celebrates March is Me!
Roman Jewelers is pleased to announce that it will be participating in the Women's Jewelry Association's (WJA) third annual March is Me Month campaign to align with Women’s History Month in March and International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022. The campaign was developed in collaboration with over 30 members of WJA’s Women’s Executive Leadership Forum with the goal of empowering women to purchase fine jewelry for themselves. March is Me Month will officially launch on March 1, 2022, calling on every woman to celebrate herself, visit a retail jeweler like Roman Jewelers in Bridgewater, and treat herself to a piece of fine jewelry no matter the reason. The campaign is an industry-wide initiative supporting women’s empowerment. Lucy Zimmerman, co-owner of Roman Jewelers said, "My Mom and I both believe women can do anything and be anything and that deserves to be celebrated. I've seen that first hand by her example." Ms. Zimmerman's "mom," is her mentor and co-owner, Sophie Shor. They work hand and hand everyday along with a staff of mostly women ("and some great guys, too") to run the company started by Zimmerman's Father, President, Roman Shor. "I'm so proud of my daughter. Not just because of her hard work and business achievements, but because she is generous, kind and a good friend to all. She is always there for our Roman Jewelers team, for our family and for our community." Ms. Zimmerman's response, "Thanks, Mom" adding she learned from her the importance of being grateful."Women work so hard inside and outside their homes, parenting children, and volunteering and helping their communities. Sometimes, they don't take time for themselves," adds Ms. Zimmerman. She says it is precisely why Roman Jewelers was on board with the "March is Me" campaign, so women will, "empower and reward themselves...maybe even with a well deserved, beautiful piece of jewelry."Jewelry gifts for self purchase can be as modest or magnificent as the woman chooses. Often, Ms. Zimmerman says some of the designer brands like Lagos, Gabriel and Mikimoto are popular choices because of style and price, and adds that ladies always love diamonds that remind them to sparkle every day and all year long.

Sophie, Shor, Co-owner of Roman Jewelers shares her personal story about the Cardiac Rehabilitation Centerand announces to attendees that 100% of the proceeds of the custom designed necklace will benefit the group.
The pendant was created by Roman Jewelers’, Co-owner and General manager, Lucy Zimmerman. She also happens to be Mrs. Shor’s daughter. Ms. Zimmerman selected a heart shape for this exclusive creation because it is truly a symbol that is universally adored and can be given as a gift to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, graduation, or other special occasions. As a 4thGeneration jewelry designer, Lucy was determined to craft a distinct piece, and after many designs, she was able to design a heart that was unique. Little did she know it was also so appropriate for her Mom to introduce that evening. The Share your Heart Pendant will be available for sale at Hunterdon Healthcare’s Hospital gift shop as well as at Yesterday’s Treasures, the non-profit highend resale shop that helps support the Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation. It is located in Flemington at the corner of Route 31 and Sand Hill Road.
Robin VonOhlsen, Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation’s Manager of Retail Services said that the shop sold a necklace on day one, adding,"Our supporters are always coming in looking fr a meaningful gift, like jewelry. Roman Jewelers Celebrates Mother’s Day and local “Women of Strength” during event with designer, Freida Rothman
Photo L to R: Judy Gold, Designer Freida Rothman, Courtney Newman and Roman Jewelers Co-owner, Lucy Zimmerman at Roman Jewelers on May 6th Women of Strength Event
Bridgewater, NJ--Roman Jewelers partnered with Brooklyn jewelry designer, Freida Rothman, last week to honor Women of Strength in our local community. The event, planned in celebration of Mother’s Day, awarded two local women: Judy Gold of Flemington and Courtney Newman of Hillsborough, with a bracelet and donations to their charities, BW NICE and STEPS TOGETHER, respectively.
The bracelet was designed by Freida Rothman and presented to the winners by both Rothman and Roman Jewelers’ store owner, Lucy Zimmerman, on Thursday, May 6th at the Bridgewater jewelry store at 500 Commons Way. The women were selected by Roman Jewelers’ sales staff and store owners for their exemplary commitment to our communities and their example of strength during some difficult times. Both women were inspired by their own personal circumstances to support their chosen charities.
Co-Owner Lucy Zimmerman says, “Both Judy and Courtney were obvious choices. Women of Strength are givers…and leaders. Both these ladies look for opportunities to do the most good deeds as possible in their communities. They are both inspired and never give up. And that takes strength and commitment.” Zimmerman says that her own Mother, Sophie Shor, is herself a woman of strength, adding that “I’ve learned so much from my own Woman of Strength, my Mom. She is my inspiration in all I do…as my business partner but also a leader in the community. Over my life, she has been nothing but an amazing example of humanity and strength.”
Judy Gold is a local, successful realtor, businesswoman, and community member in Hunterdon County. Judy is an advocate for women survivors in the community. She is a board member of the BUSINESS WOMEN NETWORKING INVOLVING CHARITY AND EDUCATION (BW NICE) to help women not just survive but thrive with community care and support.
Courtney Newman started Steps Together after medical scares with both of her young children. The organization formed in 2013 and assists local families who are facing a
medical crisis by providing financial relief, while also bringing awareness to the conditions that impact them. The charity has raised nearly $900,000.
An ode to female endurance and fortitude, Freida Rothman began the Women of Strength campaign to honor the stories and sentiments of women that have shaped her as a mother, daughter, and designer. The campaign has honored female Holocaust survivors—including her own grandmothers, Women of West Point Military Academy, and most recently, female healthcare workers across the country.
According to Rothman, “People are doing good things, and this is what keeps us going — to do good things to help each other, to donate to good causes.”
Roman Jewelers was honored to host Ms. Rothman at the Bridgewater store and equally honored to recognize the local Women of Strength.
“I designed the STRENGTH bracelet to honor the legacy of my four grandparents — all Holocaust survivors. They taught me to always see the beauty in life and choose a positive path forward in the face of adversity and the obstacles we all go through. The STRENGTH bracelet celebrates and reminds each woman of their inner strength and to make a positivedifference in this world. I used a textured dark rhodium finish to symbolize grit and resilience, and handset pavé stones for the perfect combination of grit and glamour.” Freida Rothman

Roman Jewelers “Shares their Heart” with Local Nonprofit Organizations and Together Raises nearly $5,000.00
The Share your heart pendant, custom-designed by 4th Generation Jewelry Designer and Co-owner of Roman Jewelers, Lucy Zimmerman, is uniquely designed in sterling silver and retails for $100.00. The profits benefit to the customer’s favorite charity.
There is always a charity that is close to someone’s heart. At Roman Jewelers, we felt creating a custom-designed pendant was the perfect way to reach out to local charities and the community with a broader message: WEAR, SHARE, CARE—Wear the pendant, Share the story of your favorite charity, Care and support our local community. And, in the last year, we have done just that by together raising nearly $5,000.
The idea came from trying to do the most good in our community. Roman Jewelers wanted to create a custom designed piece of jewelry that would be special. Not just in its design, but in its message. When a person purchases the exclusive “Share Your Heart” pendant, Roman Jewelers donates the profit to the person’s favorite charity in their name and hopefully there is a story to share every time it is worn, spreading the word and striking up a meaningful conversation.
Launched in October of 2018, the pendant was created by Roman Jewelers’, Co-owner and General manager, Lucy Zimmerman. Ms. Zimmerman selected a heart shape for this exclusive creation because it is truly a symbol that is universally adored and can be given as a gift to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, graduation or other special occasions. As a 4thGeneration jewelry designer, Lucy was determined to craft a distinct piece, which was kind of hard to do with a heart, but after many designs, she was able to design one that was very unique.
When someone purchases this sterling silver pendant, which retails for $100.00, Roman Jewelers will donate the profits of $50.00 of the sale to the purchaser’s favorite charity in their name or in honor of anyone that they choose.“The check is literally in the mail,” says Ms. Zimmerman “and the charities are surprised and happy, when they open it,” she adds.
The Share Your Heart pendant is sold to individuals in the Bridgewater store and through the Roman Jewelers website but the idea was to also provide a unique and thoughtful way to help local nonprofits with their own fundraising. Roman Jewelers created a promotional packet for the charities that they could use on their own, complete with a flyer, eblast, photography, and social media assets. Many charities have also sold the pendant at their events. From the Raritan Valley Community College foundation fundraisers to the Shaun O’Hara Golf Outing to benefit Cystic Fibrosis the word is spreading and locals are showing their support for the charity that is close to their heart.
“Our BW NICE members know that the Share Your Heart pendant is truly a gift that keeps on giving. Besides making a wonderful present for special occasions, 50% of each purchase goes back to our organization so we can further build awareness to help finally put an end to domestic violence. We are so grateful to Roman Jewelers for their outstanding support of our mission, “ said Laura M. Cummins, president of the BW NICE Somerset County Chapter and owner of Nine Dotz Consulting.
“It’s only been a year and we are very pleased with the amount of money that we all raised together. It is our hope that we can raise even more in the next year. Word is getting out,” says Ms. Zimmerman. She adds that when she wears her pendant around Bridgewater, people have approached her unknowingly and have asked her what charity she supports, “I tell them as many as possible.”
Since the company’s beginnings 30 years ago, Roman Jewelers has been dedicated to supporting charities and working to improve our communities. It is in built the fabric of our company, and, it comes from within the people who work here, as well as our owners—Sophie and Roman Shor and their daughter, Lucy Zimmerman. The family has been recognized locally by many, many charities and business organizations including the YMCA, The Hunterdon Chamber of Commerce, The Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Valley Community College and The Red Shoe just to name very few. This year, to celebrate the 30th Anniversary, Roman Jewelers is providing a $5,000 donation to The Somerset Patriots Children’s Educational And Sportsmanship Foundation. Roman Jewelers says, “Thank you for 30 Years!”
Roman Jewelers’ owners and staff proudly presented a $5,000 donation to the Somerset Patriots Children’s Educational and Sportsmanship Foundation.
On Thursday, August 29th, Roman Jewelers celebrated their 30th Anniversary at the Somerset Patriots Ballpark in the best way possible—with the community. In honor of this milestone, owners Roman and Sophie Shor, along with their daughter Lucy Zimmerman, made a $5,000 donation to the Somerset Patriots Children’s Educational & Sportsmanship Fund on behalf of Roman Jewelers.
The longevity of Roman Jewelers is rooted in their dedication to providing exemplary customer care and services, including custom jewelry design. Roman Jewelers also prides itself on carrying only the finest selections of diamonds and jewelry brands, including Rolex watches.
Roman Jewelers’ journey began in 1980 when the family immigrated from the former Soviet Union. Roman initially worked from his basement as a bench jeweler until 1989, when his hard work paid off and he opened the first Roman Jewelers store in Flemington.
The business later expanded to the Bridgewater Commons Mall, where it thrived for 17 years. Currently located at 500 Commons Way in Bridgewater, the business is managed by fourth-generation jeweler Lucy Zimmerman.
While the family remains busy running the store, they have always made a meaningful effort to give back to the community that has, as Mrs. Zimmerman says, “graciously given us so much.”
In this spirit—and to further celebrate their 30th anniversary—Roman Jewelers also sponsored the Somerset Patriots 2019 Bat Kid Program. This sponsorship provided a wonderful opportunity to meet and connect with many local children and families.
The Shor and Zimmerman family is proud of both their business and their community. Their commitment stems from the gratitude felt by a young immigrant family welcomed into a community that embraced them and provided the freedom they longed for.
“Thank you to all for 30 wonderful years… we look forward to many more and hope to continue supporting our local charities while spreading the message of generosity and positivity,” said Mrs. Zimmerman.

It was an absolute honor to get to know these families and hear all about the wonderful women who raised them. Here are their stories:
Pearl
Pearl shared that her mama, along with her sisters, created a wonderful and memorable childhood for her that began when they adopted her from China many years ago. One of her fondest memories is a book that her mother use to read to her when she was a little one. Here is Pearl’s video:
